FMR Report – 2010 Transworld Slam Festival

2010 TRANSWORLD Slam

Milestone Ranch MX Park in Riverside, CA welcomed the 2nd annual Transworld SLAM Festival. The idea behind this event was to bring a white knuckling experience to spectators while pro riders go head to head on a tight track while strategically trying to edge out the competition. This one on one battle style was a fan favorite as aggressive riding was calling for nudging, pushing, bumping…and SLAMMING, while still pumping up the crowd with whips and scrubs.

Friday, October 15th was the first day of the festival and held the TransWorld Industry Cup, a race where each vendor could build a team of three riders for a chance at the Tretta – Motoda Memorial Trophy. Oakley’s 2010 team consisted of Ryan Guidus, Daran Godfrey & Joe Bond and they tore up the track with the #102 bib. Unfortunately we didn’t take the trophy, but we did dominate the field with Oakley Mx Goggles being seen in every direction.

Saturday, October 16th was the main event and spectators from all over came to check out the expo, ride the open tracks, as well as, see the competition. Oakley erected the 30’ tent surrounded by marketing trucks and filled it with two Mega Towers, Goggle Tower, Counter Display, Mannequins and more to give it an authentic retail store feel.

With a full selection of Mx Goggles with the likes of Mayhem, Crowbar, O-Frame, Proven & XS O-Frame we had something for everyone. We also included signature goggles, accessories, key eyewear, custom TransWorld Slam eyewear and more. Whether you were coming into the Oakley-dome to buy a pair of goggles or shades or if you were a grom looking to stuff your pockets full of swag we had you covered.

Overall the event was a huge success. We had some good sales and promotions and half way through the day we loaded up the tent full of spectators to test their Oakley knowledge and gave away a few signature goggles and hats. We definitely had the best set up and prime real estate to showcase our position in the moto world.

Transworld was pumped with our involvement and Milestone Ranch Mx Park was fully supportive of the brand with Oakley eyewear and goggles being seen everywhere. Special thank to Rob Ramlose & Alyssa Gross for helping coordinate the event and leveraging their relationships with Transworld to give us a major footprint on this event. Also, big thanks to Joe Bond for all his help and support and dialing in his account so we could tie in retail sales!
